About The Position

The MT Technical Lead, Expert (Lab) position performs complex laboratory procedures following established laboratory policy and procedures; reports test results, monitors workflow, and manages instrumentation maintenance, escalates to supervisor or manager as needed. Evaluates and ensures compliance with service guarantees and specimen quality requirements; serves as a technical resource for the department. Makes significant improvements to processes to enhance performance and outcomes of the team. This position reports to the Manager/Supervisor, Laboratory (Lab).

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Medical Technology, biological sciences or related field - REQUIRED
• Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft office - REQUIRED
• Minimum six (6) years clinical laboratory experience as generalist or in the related field - REQUIRED
• Current Florida supervisory license as generalist or related field - REQUIRED
• Certified by a professional laboratory certifying agency (i.e. ASCP, AMT) - REQUIRED

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess test systems
• Investigate and document proficiency testing corrective action
• Monitors and evaluates Quality Control results on instrument platforms/test systems
• Reviews and approves QC, maintenance logs and other required documentation
• Oversees completion of assay validations including but not limited to correlations, linearity and accuracy
• Escalates findings or deviations to supervisor or manager
• Performs essential duties of Medical Technologist, independently
• Leads and directs other Medical Technologists. Serves as mentor in MT Trainee Program.
• Acts as SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the development and compliance of departmental policies and procedures and ensuring inspection readiness and liaison for other department collaboration
• Facilitates implementation of process improvement opportunities
• Leads evaluation process of new and existing test methodologies, new and current equipment
• Acts as lead in absence of supervisor and/or manager
