About The Position

Join our team and help launch the first state psychiatric hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth, where innovative caregivers will make a lasting impact on behavioral health in Texas. The Texas Behavioral Health Center is a newly completed state-funded psychiatric hospital opening in Dallas’ Southwestern Medical District that is owned by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and operated by UT Southwestern Medical Center. When fully operational, the 505,000-square-foot facility will house 292 beds – 200 for adult patients and 92 for children and adolescents. As DFW’s first state-funded behavioral health hospital, it is designed to deliver state-of-the-art, patient-centered care in a modern and healing environment. The center provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment and features private patient rooms, abundant access to natural light and nature, and thoughtfully designed spaces that promote recovery. The hospital will also provide training to all behavioral health disciplines. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (8am-5pm). Candidate must have some flexibility to be on call at times including weekends. This will be discussed more during the interview process.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work
  • 2 year's experience
  • (LCSW) LIC CLINCAL SOCIAL WORKER

Responsibilities

  • Assists in development and implementation of Case Management. Provides expertise in area of social work as it pertains to management of patient.
  • Assists in coordination of client care through formulation of appropriate plan of care via accurate assessment of patient's social, financial and insurance situation.
  • Develops short- and long-term plans to facilitate patient care and discharge.
  • Utilizes crisis intervention and problem-solving skills to facilitate and enhance patient and family's ability to meet acute and ongoing medical and psychosocial needs.
  • Networks with community agencies to assure appropriate client access.
  • Maintains documentation and meets department and Zale Lipshy University Hospital documentation standards.
  • Identifies cases with ethical and legal considerations and makes referrals. Confers with supervisor.
  • Communicates with other health care providers, patients, families, other hospital personnel, and visitors.
  • Demonstrates effective communication with adolescents, adults and older adults.
  • Maintains system for tracking placement of patients after discharge on monthly basis.
  • Has knowledge of Department and Unit Performance Improvement program and is aware of expected participation. Identifies need for professional growth and seeks development opportunities.
  • Provides education to staff, patients and community resource affiliates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
