About The Position

Radiology Ltd., is a 500-employee medical imaging organization providing World-Class Imaging to improve the health of all Southern Arizona. Radiology Ltd. is seeking a full time MSK Ultrasound Technologist to join our dynamic team at our Camp Lowell site on Tucson's east side. Hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8 AM to 5 PM Job Summary: The MSK Ultrasound Technologist performs a variety of standard and specialized ultrasound procedures, including general, abdominal, musculoskeletal (MSK), and vascular studies, with accuracy and efficiency for use by physicians in the diagnosis and evaluation of disease and organ function. Technologists apply the profession’s code of ethics in all aspects of practice and maintain knowledge of, observe, and enforce safety measures in the clinical environment. Ultrasound Technologist I performs primarily general, abdominal, and MSK ultrasound examinations. Ultrasound Technologist II performs general, abdominal, MSK, and advanced vascular ultrasound procedures based on additional certifications. What’s in it for you? Requirements

  • Knowledge of and adherence to company policies and protocols

  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and ultrasound physics
  • Knowledge of standard technical skills and procedural understanding to perform a range of ultrasound procedures
  • Knowledge of basic level computer skills
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing work and following assignments through to completion

  • Ability to operate and adjust ultrasound equipment

  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography School or Ultrasound Program
  • Current certification and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or any other acceptable certification in Abdomen or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Must be able to stand, stoop and lift and walk without restrictions.
  • Requires the use of office equipment, such as computers, fax machines, telephones, and copiers
  • Requires computer-related activities for extended periods
  • Requires the ability to see, hear, speak, write, and key

Nice To Haves

  • Prior healthcare or imaging experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Properly identify and interview patients to ensure correct procedures are performed
  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic ultrasound examinations to obtain optimal views
  • Explain procedures to patients to alleviate anxieties and obtain cooperation
  • Operate ultrasound imaging equipment, move equipment into appropriate positions, and adjust technical controls based on patient anatomy, height, weight, body part examined, and degree of penetration required
  • Perform general ultrasound examinations, including abdomen and pelvis studies
  • Review and evaluate images for proper identification, quality, clarity, completeness, and diagnostic value
  • Process images and send completed studies to PACS for interpretation by the radiologist or requesting physician
  • Maintain accurate patient records, logs, forms, and reports of work performed
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding workflow, equipment issues, maintenance needs, or malfunctions
  • Adhere to all safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality standards
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with co-workers, supervisors, patients, physicians, and other external contacts
  • Perform musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound examinations to evaluate muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and soft tissue structures.
  • Apply appropriate MSK scanning protocols to obtain diagnostic-quality images for physician interpretation.
  • Identify and document abnormal MSK findings in accordance with established clinical and documentation standards.
  • Perform vascular ultrasound procedures, including carotid duplex, venous Doppler, and other vascular studies as required
  • Apply advanced vascular imaging techniques to assess blood flow, vessel patency, and related abnormalities
  • Recognize and document abnormal or complex vascular findings in accordance with established protocols
  • Serve as a clinical resource for vascular imaging questions, procedures, and best practices
  • Completes other tasks and projects as assigned
