We are looking for a MSFC Programs Senior Project Engineer (MTS Casual III- Systems Engineering). This position, as part of CSG NASA Programs Division will support the Aerospace Program Office at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) or NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC) providing subject matter expertise to exploration systems. The roles can include design, analysis, planning, and providing strategic guidance for programs, projects, and initiatives from inception through completion. This Senior Project Engineer will support projects such as launch vehicles, spacecraft, habitat systems, environmental control and life support systems, ground operations, mission operations, and science and technology. This position will apply knowledge from area of specialization / professional focus, and its related engineering concepts, approaches, methods, tools, and technology. This is a casual (flexible part time) position, and the selected candidate will be required to work on-site at an Aerospace or NASA facility in Huntsville, AL or Merrit Island, FL. What You’ll Be Doing Acts as senior technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, or team leader May lead or organize interfaces between customers' and Aerospace technical and management staff Coordinate large-scale technical efforts across program/project lines Initiate studies designed to solve new technical problems and provide new technical solutions within area of expertise Provide ongoing technical consultation and advice to management, customers, and contractors in area of specialization Take initiative to inform management of perceived technical problems and recommend courses of action Provide technical analyses, requirements, metrics, and overall systems engineering experience in workshops, control boards, and major milestone reviews. Establish and expand relationships with NASA, other government agencies, commercial primes, international partners, academic institutions, and emerging space entrants. Partner with engineering and analysis teams to ensure compliance, technical quality, and mission relevance. Identify emerging technologies and best practices to strengthen future space systems Work professionally with all levels of management, particularly senior customer officials What You Need to be Successful - Senior Project Engineer (Engineering Program Management)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Science or related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in space systems research, design, development, test, operations, and/or engineering
  • Strong understanding of NASA programs and the NASA organization.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across technical and executive audiences, organizing complex technical and programmatic materials and concepts in clear and logical manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in dynamic, multidisciplinary environments.
  • Experience with technical assessments and flight hardware
  • Ability to provide systems-based leadership in the areas of space, ground, and mission systems
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally to support customer needs, approximately 10%
  • This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Science, Engineering, Aerospace Management, or Business Administration.
  • Experience spanning multiple centers.
  • Hands-on experience in systems engineering or technical program management with flight hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in technology maturation and capability development for NASA Exploration missions
  • Experience with international partners.
  • Familiarity of NASA mission expertise, skills, tools, analytical capabilities, computing resources and laboratory facilities
  • Experience with current NASA management policies, practices, and systems associated with exploration systems.
