Under administrative direction, this position is responsible for coordinating with the Community Rating System (CRS), the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Insurance Services Office, Inc, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) to document and safeguard the City's involvement in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), CRS, and the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Phase II permit. This position will ensure that the City meets the responsibilities necessary to maintain and/or improve Palm Coast's classification and flood insurance discount in the program. This position will report to the Stormwater Engineer and will work in an independent manner and is expected to make independent decisions and judgments on Floodplain Management, CRS, and MS4 issues.

  • Coordinate with the Community Rating System (CRS), FEMA, ISO, and FDEP.
  • Document and safeguard the City's involvement in NFIP, CRS, and MS4 Phase II permit.
  • Ensure the City meets responsibilities to maintain/improve flood insurance classification and discount.
  • Report to the Stormwater Engineer.
  • Make independent decisions and judgments on Floodplain Management, CRS, and MS4 issues.
  • Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Engineering, Environmental, or related field.
  • Five (5) years responsible experience in floodplain management.
  • Association of State Floodplain Managers Certified Floodplain Manager Certification (CFM) or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License.
