About The Position

Under general supervision, perform work pertaining to disconnecting, reconnecting, removing, and installing single-phase and three-phase kilowatt-hour and demand meters not to exceed 260 volts; read meters; investigate irregular readings, energy diversion, and inactive or unauthorized usage; contact customers, test, inspect, maintain, service, pack and transport measurement equipment and other equipment as assigned, and perform associated duties. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: None required
  • Licenses/Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid state driver license. Must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law.

  • Must have satisfactorily performed the duties of, and have all the qualifications of MRO Utility Worker or the equivalent and in addition:
  • Must successfully complete all job demonstrations, examinations or other training required to advance within the MRO Servicer II classification, within such time frame as determined by the Company, or vacate the current Servicer II job classification.
  • Prior to promotion to the next classification in the Principal Line of Progression (MRO Servicer I), successfully complete 24 months in the MRO Servicer II classification and obtain the required degree
  • Must have a good working knowledge of single-phase self-contained metering and metering practices.
  • Must be able to understand and follow instructions and learn all rules, procedures, and safety practices applicable to the work.
  • Must possess ability to effectively communicate with employees, customers and the public in a courteous and appropriate manner and be able to work independently.
  • Must have safe work habits and adhere to all safety rules and practices of the Company.
  • Must be physically capable of performing required duties.
  • Must be able to treat the Company and customer business as confidential.
  • Must meet all requirements for operating communication equipment, including the ability to enter data via the appropriate work management system accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required by job responsibilities.
  • Must be available by telephone or by Company-provided pager or cell phone.
  • This job requires "recommended" test results from HireVue Meter Servicer Virtual Job Tryout.
  • A physical abilities assessment is also required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Leave collection notices on customers' premises.
  • Disconnect and reconnect electrical service to customer, as directed, by removal or installation of self-contained single and three-phase kilowatt-hour meters or combination demand meters not to exceed 260 volts, for service orders, credit action, inactive usage, or as otherwise directed.
  • Remove, install, or change self-contained single and three-phase kilowatt-hour or demand meters when the meter is broken, stopped, or operating improperly.
  • Bypass meters and/or associated equipment, when necessary while performing customer service work, to maintain service.
  • Respond to service calls on installations not to exceed 260 volts, single or three-phase as assigned.
  • Conduct the investigation of energy diversion.
  • Appear as witness in court hearings as needed.
  • Receive, inspect, test, adjust, clean, repair and program single-phase meters.
  • Test load research, time of use, and electronic data recorders and portable instruments as required.
  • Take inventory of meter stock and resolve discrepancies as assigned.
  • Safely operate all tools, equipment, and vehicles, and maintain in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Read billing meters, as may be assigned.
  • Perform duties in accordance with the Company safety rules, regulations, practices and report unsafe conditions.
  • Direct the work of and assist in training of other employees, as well as attend and participate in training as assigned.
  • Report hazards, irregularities, and abnormal conditions.
