JOB PURPOSE The Production/Shop Planner (Planner, Scheduler, Production Coordinator) is responsible for developing, executing, & monitoring detailed MRO capacity and priority planning to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities. This role plays a critical part in aligning shop resources with operational demands, minimizing downtime, and supporting on-time delivery of aircraft components and systems.

  • Capacity Planning: · Analyze shop capabilities, labor availability, tooling, and equipment to determine short- and long-term MRO capacity. · Forecast workload based on incoming work orders, scheduled maintenance, and customer demand. · Identify capacity constraints and recommend solutions to optimize throughput.
  • Priority Planning: · Coordinate with Team Leads, engineering, sales and supply chain teams to prioritize work orders based on delivery schedules, customer commitments, and operational urgency. · Adjust priorities dynamically in response to changing conditions, such as part delays or urgent / expedite situations.
  • Work Order Management: · Prioritize, Batch, Release, and monitor work orders into the MRO system. · Ensure all required documentation, parts, and resources are available before work begins.
  • Performance Monitoring: · Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as turnaround time (TAT), schedule adherence, and resource utilization. · Provide regular reports and insights to management to support continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration & Communication: · Serve as the liaison between sales, planning, production, quality, and logistics teams. · Chair production meetings and planning reviews.
  • Operational Support & Risk Management Identify and mitigate potential risks related to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Work with engineering, maintenance, and safety teams to address quality concerns. Ensure that corrective actions are taken promptly to resolve compliance issues
  • Marginal Job Functions: Knowledge of general office clerical procedures. Strong computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, Office and PowerPoint. Ability to regularly exercise sound judgment.
  • SAFETY/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS Will participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices, and compliance. Will participate in safety activities including the following: immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices, and accidents/injuries. Will follow all safety rules, FAA regulations, PPE compliance, and equipment operation requirements.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in aviation management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or a relevant field. In lieu of degrees equivalent experience is acceptable
  • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience in planning, production control or aviation operations. Strong understanding of maintenance processes, FAA/EASA Regulations, and MRO best practices preferred.
  • Certifications: Certificated per Part 65 as a mechanic or repairman preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies: Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and capacity planning tools.
  • Prior experience in an FAA Part 145 repair station or similar regulated environment preferred.
