About The Position

Buck Knives creates purpose drive knives that perform for generations. The Part-Time MRO Buyer is responsible for procuring Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) materials and services to support daily operations, equipment uptime, and facility maintenance. This role ensures timely, cost-effective purchasing of supplies, tools, spare parts, and services while maintaining strong vendor relationships and accurate procurement records. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

1–3 years combined experience in purchasing or administrative support.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Basic understanding of industrial equipment, tools, or maintenance supplies.
Hands-on exposure to vendor communication, PO processing, and ERP systems
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Source, quote, and purchase MRO supplies, tools, spare parts, consumables, safety items, and maintenance services.
Ensure timely replenishment of critical inventory to minimize downtime.
Review purchase requisitions, verify specifications, and place purchase orders.
Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers for best value.
Maintain strong relationships with approved suppliers and identify alternate sources when needed.
Evaluate vendor performance based on pricing, quality, and responsiveness.
Resolve issues related to delivery delays, quality discrepancies, or invoicing.
Collaborate with maintenance, warehouse, and production teams to understand MRO stock needs.
Help maintain proper inventory levels and ensure updated item records.
Monitor usage trends and propose stocking strategies for frequently used items.
Maintain accurate purchase order records, supplier information, and files.
Track spend and support monthly reporting of MRO expenses and savings.
Ensure compliance with purchasing procedures and internal controls.
