About The Position

The MRI Technologist will work in a collaborative environment to provide superior patient care. The incumbent will perform all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of MRI images, and will be responsible for the care of the patient while in the MRI area. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalency.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience.
  • NYS License, ARRT certified.
  • MRI Registry eligible.
  • New York BLS certified.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a strong ability to deescalate stressful situations.
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong aptitude for detail, flexibility, adaption to change, and ability to work independently.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of facility policies and procedures.
  • Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email systems, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • State license to inject contrast preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and all faculty and staff.
  • Perform MRIs and general radiological procedures: Review imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided.
  • Review all questionable orders with the radiologist and, at the radiologist’s discretion, the referring physician.
  • Position patient and select appropriate options to ensure best-case imaging based on accepted MRI standard of practice and institutional imaging protocols.
  • Observe patient while in the MRI area for change in status and make appropriate intervention or contact primary care givers for instruction.
  • Judge diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to radiologist for interpretation.
  • Offer detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answer questions as appropriate.
  • Administer contrast media via appropriate peripheral IV access as directed.
  • Operate and maintain equipment on a daily basis, maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data: schedule PM, perform QA, maintain records required for and participate in inspections.
  • Perform clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.
  • Other duties as assigned.
