About The Position

Weiser Memorial Hospital--rated as one of Idaho's best places to work--is looking to hire an MRI Technologist as needed to join our team. Under general supervision, the MRI Technologist is a medical imaging professional who uses Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to obtain detailed images of the body. Images are sent to Radiologists for interpretation. The MRI Technologist performs a variety of MRI imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. The MRI Imaging Technologist functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs and is an active participant in Quality Performance Improvement (QPI) activities. Requirements

  • High School graduate, BS degree preferred.
  • Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology, either college-affiliated or hospital-trained.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. ARRT preferred.
  • ARRT certification in MR technology or ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) required.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • IV starting experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Picture archive and communication (PACs) knowledge.
  • Electronic medical record experience required.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and the use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns, and extraneous radiation to patients.
  • Responsible for safe handling of equipment and troubleshooting, and management of imaging artifacts.
  • Instructs, interviews, explains, positions, and prepares patients for MRI examinations.
  • Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Ability to operate an MRI scanner to take cross-sectional scans and 3-dimensional images to aid physicians in disease diagnosis and treatment.
  • Ability to start IVs and give intravenous injections of gadolinium, a contrast agent that increases visibility of internal body areas.
  • Ability to modify scan parameters based on pathology, artifact, and patient conditions.
  • Assists in maintaining basic records and reports.
  • Monitors patients during scanning.
  • Maintains patient records.
  • Monitors MRI equipment functions to produce clear images for physicians to make accurate diagnoses.
  • Communicates critical findings with Radiologists.
  • Interacts professionally with patient/family.
  • Complete all work before clocking out and leaving. This includes checking with nurses’ stations and patient registrars.
  • Ability to comfort claustrophobic patients.
  • Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric, and general population.
  • Ability to use experience, training, and patient advocacy to resolve issues.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with other departments and open lines of communication with subordinate departments.
  • Assists with other projects as requested.
