About The Position

The MRI Technologist perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses MRI technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a school of radiologic technology with current certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required.
  • Valid State of Nebraska Medical Radiographer license required.
  • MRI certification required within 36 months from date of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  • Performs all types of MRI, MRV and MRA procedures.
  • Practices MRI safety procedures at all times.
  • Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
  • Performs venipuncture.
  • Uses sterile technique as required.
  • Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
  • Competently operates all MRI equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS, and offsite Radiologist Services.
  • Utilizes department computer systems, and PACS to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
  • Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
  • Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
  • Participates in the department's quality improvement plan as required.
  • Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
  • Keeps work area properly supplied.
