The MRI Technologist is accountable for the positioning and immobilization of patients and proper selection of technical factors along with computer reformatting of acquired data to obtain magnetic resonance scans procedures of optimal quality. This role involves performing post-processing of computer data, operating support equipment, transferring and preparing patients for examinations, and initiating IVs for contrast media administration. The technologist is also responsible for obtaining and documenting patient records, including confidential history, charge data, and incident reports, as well as managing inventory and ensuring proper identification of images. A key aspect of the role is securing pertinent patient history to aid radiologists in examination interpretation and ensuring compliance with established safety standards, including magnetic, radiation, fire, and infection safety. The position requires continuous learning and staying abreast of new developments in magnetic resonance and radiological skills, attending educational seminars, and instructing other technologists or students. Maintaining good relations with internal and external customers, including staff, physicians, ancillary departments, inpatients, outpatients, and family members, is also crucial.
