We are seeking an MRI Technologist to support the Veteran community in the Portland, OR area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals. Position Highlights: Logistics: Pay: $49.21 – $54.30 Contract Type: 1-year base and 4, 1-year option periods Schedule: Eight (8) hour shift, nine (9) hour shift, or ten (10) hour shift. Location: Portland, OR

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship
  • Certified as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and must be certified for their specialty (MR)
  • Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • 2+ years of experience in the operation of diagnostic radiology equipment under the direction of a Radiologist or other medical officer to produce radiographic studies/images used in medical diagnosis and treatment
  • Must have worked within a hospital lab setting as an MRI Tech in the last six months
  • Provide evidence of current professional liability insurance
  • Be available to work for the VA at least six (6) months after the start date
  • If selected, candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.

  • Previous experience with the VA is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Receive patients by checking name, social security number, or date of birth and explaining the procedures to be performed per the request
  • Selects and sets technical factors using established criteria
  • Sets up and adjusts accessory equipment as required.
  • Makes exposures necessary for the required procedures
  • Takes films/images to the daylight processor for processing
  • Edits film/images for quality of images, positioning, and appropriate ID
  • Enters required data into the Decentralized Hospital Computer System (DHCP)
  • Maintains records of patients treated, examinations performed, views, images taken, and settings used
  • Performs routine examinations of chest, joints, extremities, cholangiography, barium enemas, upper Gls IVPs, and other complex examinations, under the technical or professional direction of a Radiologist when required during the tour assigned.
  • Checks equipment for working conditions prior to contacting the physician or patient for an exam
  • Notifies the physician and/or technical supervisor of any equipment problems
  • Sets up x-ray room, assuring that sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters, and other required equipment are present and laid out
  • Provides portable X-rays throughout the medical centers, notifying nearby staff/visitors of the need to protect them from possible scattering radiation
