About The Position

Rebound is the largest orthopedic and neurosurgical practice in the Portland-Vancouver area with an array of sub-specialties including orthopedics, brain and spine care, sports medicine, physiatry, and physical therapy. We are proud to be the team physicians for the Portland Trail Blazers, the Portland Winterhawks and several collegiate teams and celebrate over 50 years of serving the community with a commitment to providing superior service to our patients. We are looking for a full time (35-38 hours per week) MRI Technologist to join our Imaging team. This position will work two shifts in Oregon and two shifts in Washington. Typical shifts are Thursday and Friday usually in Oregon 7am - 5pm and Saturday and Sunday in Washington 6:15am - 2:45pm. The MRI Technologist performs routine MRI procedures utilizing independent judgment in regard to proper equipment and computer usage, patient positioning, and patient needs to meet Imaging Services Standards. The individual performs imaging procedures, applies principles of magnetic resonance imaging, evaluates images for technical quality; and exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. The ideal candidate will possess great organizational skills and energy, a can-do attitude, a desire to learn the practice, and a collaborative team spirit. The candidate will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, a superior commitment to patient care, and the ability to work closely with patients and physicians. This position may require some travel to our other clinics.

Requirements

  • Education: High School or equivalent required. AA or AAS Field of study: Radiologic Technology Sciences. Graduate of a formal program of study accredited by the committee on allied health education and accreditation of the AMA, or completion of didactic education and clinical experience acceptable to the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Oregon State MR license is required for working in Oregon.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Minimum of two years working as a radiologic technologist prior to learning MRI is preferred.
  • Knowledge of radiologic and MRI terminology, practices and procedures, physiology, and human cross sectional anatomy is necessary.
  • Knowledge of computer-based programs as they relate to MR applications.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements to provide instructions and to recognize and correct hazardous conditions.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems.
  • Ability to collect and analyze statistics and other data.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret the MRI order, perform examinations according to established protocols, and provide all patient services needed to perform the exam.
  • Identify, interview, screen, answer patient questions, and explain the procedure to the patient prior to initiation of examination.
  • Continually evaluate equipment to ensure proper and safe operation of the equipment. Report any discrepancies in the operation to the Supervisor.
  • Follow established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, employee and patient safety, environmental, infection control.
  • Assist with maintenance and care of departmental facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Regularly provide basic nursing functions in regard to patient care.
  • Responsible for monitoring patient safety and should be prepared to perform emergency procedures when needed.
  • Maintain knowledge and skill consistent within the scope of practice and current with developing medical technology.
  • Work at different Rebound locations as needed and scheduled by supervisor.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor or manager, both technical and nontechnical.
