About The Position

At Emory Healthcare, the MRI Technologist provides quality care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures. This role involves effective communication of patient needs and responses, ensuring complete and accurate documentation of all aspects of patient care. The technologist is responsible for the proper operation of imaging and specialty equipment, staying updated on medical device uses, and providing direct care for all procedures in this area. They ensure patients are prepared, provide quality care during procedures, and assist with patient and family education. The position may also support research activities, demonstrate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology, and provide complex technical care. MRI Technologists assist with planning multiple diagnostic procedures, act as a resource for students and junior technologists, and complete procedures in the Radiology Information System for billing purposes. Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and at a minimum be registered with the ARRT.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience with one (1) year in MR.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced certification in MR preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality care to the patients receiving diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures.
  • Communicates patient needs and responses through appropriate verbal and written correspondence.
  • Ensures documentation is complete and accurate regarding all aspects of patient care.
  • Responsible for proper operation of imaging and specialty equipment as well as keeps abreast of uses of medical devices.
  • Assumes responsibility and provides direct care for all procedures performed in this area.
  • Ensures that patients have been prepared for procedures.
  • Provides quality care to patients during procedures.
  • Assists with patient and family education.
  • May support or assist in research and related activities.
  • Demonstrates an adequate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
  • Provides more complex technical care necessary to meet identified patient needs.
  • Assists with performing and planning multiple diagnostic procedures in appropriate time sequence.
  • Acts as a resource for students and junior technologists.
  • Completes procedures in Radiology Information System to ensure billing of exams/procedure.
  • Prepares billing sheet and submits per guidelines.
  • Responsible for completing all aspects of patient care documentation as required in imaging services.
