About The Position

The MRI technologist works with radiologists and staff to prepare patients and operate magnetic resonance equipment to obtain diagnostic scans. This role operates under general supervision, performing various exams and procedures according to departmental protocol and physician orders. The technologist is responsible for positioning patients for imaging and setting appropriate technical factors on equipment to ensure quality images for radiologist interpretation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • ARRT or ARMRIT Registered in MRI, or eligible.
  • Registry must be completed within 12 months of start date.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment.
  • Ability to multitask and proficient in MRI safety.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient safety and comfort while in the radiology department.
  • Explain the procedure and post-procedure orders to the patient to gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
  • Prioritize workflow in regard to patient condition and ensure patients’ arrival and departure occur in a timely manner.
  • Provide an atmosphere conducive to gain the patient's cooperation and confidence.
  • Utilize data received from patient satisfaction and practice performance results to identify opportunities to improve and participate in the planning and improvement process.
  • Follow and support OSHA regulations and use universal precautions when required.
  • Clean examination surfaces between patients.
  • Provide clean linen including sheets, gowns, pillowcases, and towels.
  • Immediately clean spills following universal precautions.
  • Properly store accessory equipment when not in use.
  • Work within a team to achieve patient and team goals.
  • Share and initiate regular and professional communication with co-workers.
  • Facilitate and participate in regular staff meetings.
  • Follow routine standards and properly and safely manipulate equipment, within its limitations, to obtain images.
  • Maintain sterile equipment and fields.
  • Adjust cameras to obtain the proper density and contrast.
  • Perform any necessary warm-up and quality control procedures on the equipment.
  • Use protocols to obtain images of internal structures.
  • Critique images for quality and make necessary judgments to determine if repeat is necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
