About The Position

The position involves performing diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams, exercising professional judgment in the performance of procedures, ensuring MRI safety considerations, and providing a quality patient care experience. The schedule includes weekend call and is about 1 out of 6 weekends and 1 holiday per year on call. The technologist will work with a variety of MRI equipment and will be part of a supportive team.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved or JRCERT approved school.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) certification required at the time of hire.
  • MRI certified or certification to be obtained within two years post-hire preferred.
  • Licensure through the ND Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board (NDMIRT) required if working in North Dakota.
  • Permit to practice through the Iowa Department of Public Health required if working in Iowa.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) training or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams.
  • Initiates life support measures as necessary.
  • Interacts effectively with patients and their family members, physicians, and other health care workers.
  • Positions the patient and provides for comfort during the exam.
  • Administers contrast material as required.
  • Obtains patient history and clinical indication for MRI study.
  • Accurately documents in patient records.
  • Utilizes electronic medical record software for accurate scheduling and billing procedures.
  • Works to develop an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status.
  • May perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.
