The position involves performing diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams, exercising professional judgment in the performance of procedures, ensuring MRI safety considerations, and providing a quality patient care experience. The technologist will initiate life support measures as necessary, interact effectively with patients and their family members, physicians, and other health care workers, and possess extensive knowledge of the operation of all MRI equipment. Responsibilities also include positioning the patient for comfort during the exam, administering contrast material as required, obtaining patient history, and accurately documenting in patient records. The role may also involve performing diagnostic radiology procedures and other related tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved or JRCERT approved school.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) training or experience preferred.
  • ARRT certification or ARMRIT certification required at the time of hire.
  • MRI certification to be obtained within two years post-hire preferred.
  • Licensure through the ND Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board required if working in North Dakota.
  • Permit to practice through the Iowa Department of Public Health required if working in Iowa.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and recertified as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams.
  • Exercise professional judgment in the performance of procedures and MRI safety considerations.
  • Provide a quality patient care experience.
  • Initiate life support measures as necessary.
  • Interact effectively with patients, family members, physicians, and other health care workers.
  • Position the patient and provide for comfort during the exam.
  • Administer contrast material as required.
  • Obtain patient history and clinical indication for MRI study.
  • Accurately document in patient records.
  • Utilize electronic medical record software for accurate scheduling and billing procedures.
  • Develop an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status.
  • Perform basic diagnostic radiology tasks and be aware of general radiology protocols.
  • May perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.
