About The Position

Works under minimal supervision with the physicians to perform MRI imaging exams, exam protocols, accreditation, operations, and facilitation of equipment maintenance.

Requirements

  • BASIC LIFE SUPPORT certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) by first day of employment.
  • (ARRT-MR) Magnetic Resonance Imaging American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Upon Hire or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) Upon Hire.

  • 2 years of MRI experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review physician orders for accuracy, diagnosis, sedation, and applicability to the MRI protocol.
  • Screen patients for MRI appropriateness and review any contraindications for exams including implants, metallic devices, or other foreign objects.
  • Discuss findings with the physicist and radiologist as applicable.
  • Consult with radiologist to determine appropriate sequences and parameters if modification of a MRI protocol is necessary.
  • Document changes in electronic health record.
  • Ensure other resources such as nursing have been scheduled accordingly.
  • Interview patients, conduct patient screening, and obtain medical history.
  • Explain procedure and instruct patient on necessary requirements.
  • Assist the physician as needed in performing procedures.
  • Ensure that images and records are properly completed with patient identification data.
  • Utilize technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Complete exam charges and image documentation in a timely manner.
  • Administer intravenous injections of contrast material as appropriate.
  • Observe patients for adverse reactions.
  • Perform MRI ensuring that patient meets safety requirements.
  • Assist patient in dressing for exam and attend to patient's physical well-being.
  • Instruct/communicate with patient and/or patient's family regarding the tests.
  • Perform QC testing and report problems with MRI systems.
  • Maintain various data sets and perform data calculations and statistical analyses.
  • Participate in accreditation imaging requirements.
  • Perform post processing on MRI systems and remote workstations.
  • Respond to inquiries/calls/emails in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicate shift hand off regarding workflow issues with equipment.
  • Engage in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
  • Participate in providing orientation and training for new hires and students.
  • Collaborate in the care and service delivery process of patient care.
  • Prioritize exams with scheduling to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and secure workstations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
