About The Position

The position involves performing routine and some special procedure imaging, preparing patients for procedures, assisting radiologists, and caring for the imaging equipment. The technologist must adhere to established standards of care, pursue continuing education, and take responsibility for assigned areas and duties. The role also includes ensuring customer service standards are met and performing quality assurance tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Must graduate from an accredited radiography school or hospital-based program.
  • Technologist must be certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT), ARMRIT become ARRT MR certified within 1 year of hire date.
  • Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies. Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on year of birth.
  • BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed with 90 days of hire.
  • IV certification preferred or by completion of 6-months' orientation.
  • MRI safety certification level 2 required yearly.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and adhere to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
  • Prepare and position patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images and required body part questionnaires.
  • Assume responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures and produce good technical images, reviewing completed scans for quality and completeness for the type of test ordered.
  • Assist physicians during procedures as necessary.
  • Perform quality assurance and calibrations as needed.
  • Work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the practice.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all areas, equipment, and accessories, reporting all malfunctioning equipment to the practice supervisor.
  • Print patient CD if needed.
  • Perform routine office tasks, such as answering phones, checking-in patients, obtaining previous reports/films, or other related duties as needed.
  • Notify front desk staff upon exam completion.
  • Show radiologist images and call report to attending physician and document communication if necessary (STAT readings).
  • May be assigned as instructor or preceptor.
  • Introduce themselves and educate each patient or family member regarding the examination that is ordered.
  • Be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care based on age, physical and psychosocial stature of patient populations; pediatric, adolescent, adults, and geriatric groups.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-services.
  • Coverage rotation to other outpatient offsite.
  • Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the offsite practices.
  • May be required to work holidays, overtime and/or day, evening and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safe coverage for the outpatient facility.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
  • Position is eligible for certification incentive.
