About The Position

The MRI Technologist will operate and maintain a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner to obtain images on patients to diagnose the nature and extent of designated pathologies, while ensuring patient safety and comfort. This role is part of the Imaging Services organization located at Colony Park South.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technology Program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or other program acceptable to meet ARRT registration requirements.
  • BLS required and can be obtained within ninety (90) days of start.
  • ARRT registration in Radiography and MS Medical Radiology Technician license required upon hire.
  • ARRT registration in Magnetic Resonance Imaging required within twenty-four (24) months of start.

  • Knowledge of magnetic resonance imaging procedures and technology.
  • Knowledge of specifications, standards, and tolerances for the operation of MRI equipment and facilities.
  • Skill in the operation of magnetic resonance film processors and ancillary equipment.

  • Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to alleviate patient anxiety.

Responsibilities

  • Performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures.
  • Explains procedures to patient, obtains and records medical history relevant to the condition being viewed, selects appropriate equipment settings, and positions the patient in a manner to facilitate optimum imaging results.
  • Develops and views images to determine quality and forwards for review and interpretation; maintains applicable patient documentation.
  • Maintains adequate supplies and a clean work area; reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Assumes responsibility for patient safety; provides physical and psychological comfort to patient.
  • Ensures compliance with workplace safety, environmental, exposure control, and/or infection control practices.
