About The Position

The MRI Technologist II position is a per diem role located in Arlington Heights, IL. The hours for this position vary based on the needs of the department. The role involves performing established MRI imaging procedures, selecting proper technique protocols, and preparing and positioning patients for MRI procedures. The technologist will also process and develop images according to established procedures and demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to assess, treat, and care for patients of all age groups, from neonatal to geriatric. In addition, the technologist will involve family or guardians in the plan of care and conduct patient and family education as appropriate. The position requires performing calibration and quality control procedures to ensure optimal quality of MRI equipment and service, and maintaining appropriate patient and operational records consistent with the Radiology Department.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in allied health field required.
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required.
  • ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) registered as an MR technologist required.
  • Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • Minimum 6 months supervised MRI experience required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the correct use of body mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all established MRI imaging procedures and selects proper technique protocols.
  • Prepares and positions patients for MRI procedures using immobilization devices as required.
  • Processes and develops images per established procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat, and care for all age groups of patients.
  • Involves family/guardian in the plan of care and conducts patient and family education.
  • Performs established calibration and quality control procedures to assure optimal quality of MRI equipment.
  • Notifies supervisor of unusual findings.
  • Participates in maintaining appropriate patient and operational records.
