About The Position

The MRI Technologist performs MRI procedures on all age groups in accordance with established professional and departmental standards and procedures. This position requires working from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM, including every other Saturday and Sunday.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a two-year radiological technology program in an AMA approved educational institution.
  • Ability to complete initial (or as directed) competency on IV injections.
  • Able to complete all MR examination types including cardiac pacemaker, pediatric and anesthesia supported cases.
  • Current State of Maryland licensure as Radiological Technologists required.
  • Certification by American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT).
  • CPR BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Processes MRI scan sequences; verifies demographics and technical information; checks technical quality of films.
  • Participates as a member of a specialized medical team in performing specialized MRI scans of various organs and in preparing patients for specific procedures.
  • Reviews pathology, surgical, and other reports to monitor patient progress and provide a means for evaluating the accuracy of MRI examinations.
  • Assesses consistently the patient's condition and administers first aid as required; assists physicians in cases of adverse reactions or emergencies.
  • Confers with Supervisor to recommend changes, report problems and provide feedback to improve patient care, technical quality and clerical functions.
  • Monitors equipment performance and reports problems to the Manager; records malfunctions as required.
  • Assists in the clinical instruction of technologists and students when needed.
  • Provides care for physically and mentally compromised patients.
  • Prioritizes patients in work flow appropriately.
  • Proficient in assisting the patient care team in MR sedation cases.
  • Monitors compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory and policy requirements and MRI safety policy and procedures.
  • Performs routine and complex MRI procedures in accordance with established safety and quality standards and the special needs of patients.
