About The Position

The Wellstar Diagnostic Float Team (WEST Team) supports a variety of imaging services across our facilities. Region One includes Kennestone Hospital, North Fulton Hospital, & Windy Hill. As an MRI Technologist for Region One, you will apply your expertise to deliver safe, high-quality imaging and a supportive patient experience at each location you serve. If you prefer a role that avoids routine, lets you use your full skill set, and provides straightforward pay, this could be a strong fit. Pay: In return for stepping in where you’re needed most, Float Pool members earn a higher base rate and may be eligible for a float incentive. Schedule & Incentives: Float Pool technologists have clarity and choice: This full-time position offers a $20,000 sign-on bonus Multiple shift options available to self-schedule up to 8 weeks in advance Monthly schedule includes 2 Monday shifts, 2 Friday shifts, and 3 weekend shifts (Sat/Sun) This position is eligible for full-time benefits

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting
  • ARRT-R (Radiography)
  • ARRT-MR (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI exams and produce diagnostic-quality images per established protocols.
  • Verify orders, collect relevant clinical history, complete MRI safety screening, and assess contraindications.
  • Confirm patient identity per policy; ensure accurate documentation, labeling, and required markers.
  • Prepare patients for exams; explain procedures using AIDET and maintain privacy, comfort, and dignity.
  • Apply MRI safety practices at all times (magnet safety, access control, hearing protection, safety devices).
  • Prepare and administer contrast safely when indicated, including venipuncture, GFR checks, and weight-based dosing.
  • Use knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology to ensure complete, accurate imaging.
  • Monitor patients throughout the exam using appropriate monitoring equipment; provide pre- and post-procedure care.
  • Respond appropriately to urgent/emergency situations and collaborate with technologists across departments/modalities.
  • Use Time Out and pre-procedure verification when required; assist with biopsies and specialized procedures as applicable.
  • Review images for clinical acceptability; transmit studies promptly to PACS, finalize exams in RIS, and produce CDs/prior retrieval as needed.
  • Support operations and compliance, keep areas orderly and stocked, transport patients safely, complete charging/clerical tasks, follow regulatory requirements, and escalate issues to the supervisor.
