About The Position

The MRI Technologist performs a variety of procedures utilizing magnetic resonance imaging equipment and computer-assisted tomography scanner to visualize internal anatomy across various patient populations, including neonatal, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. This role requires adherence to the Frederick Health mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy, as well as compliance with regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a CAHEA or JRCERT approved program as a Registered Technologist R.T. (R).
  • ARRT, ARMRIT, or CAMRT registered as an MR technologist; or ARRT registered or unlimited state license with 1 year of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Registered Technologist R.T. (R) or MRI Technologist (MR).
  • BLS CPR Certification required.
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Keyboard/computer skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful work with patients having potentially disabling or terminal conditions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment problems.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to contrast medium reactions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform correct patient positioning and secure patients to MR table.
  • Position imaging coils correctly.
  • Select proper technical settings and scan protocols from computer menu.
  • Transmit images to PACS for interpretation and for permanent record.
  • Obtain optimal MR images for accurate diagnosis.
  • Evaluate MR images with radiologist.
  • Monitor equipment status indicators to prevent damage.
  • Perform daily quality control checks of the MR unit.
  • Assess patient sensitivity to contrast material.
  • Assist radiologists in determining type and volume of IV contrast material.
  • Obtain informed consent and perform phlebotomy.
  • Administer oral and IV contrast material.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of assigned workspace.
  • Check emergency equipment, drugs, and supplies for missing or expired items.
  • Ensure patient records are complete and signed prior to examination.
  • Execute tasks associated with PACS, HIS, and RIS systems.
  • Take emergency call as required.
