About The Position

GENERAL OVERVIEW: Performs prescribed MRI imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative. Provides supervision of staff and area functions as well as serve as a physician liaison.

Requirements

  • Minimum Associate’s Degree; or Certification from a technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - ARMRIT or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Certification and Registration - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • 3 years as an MRI Technologist.
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a mentor for new staff and uses technical expertise to improve staff performance.
  • Assists in the management of human resources (performance management), staff/equipment schedule, payroll, and non-labor expenses and activities for the department.
  • Maintains a quality assurance program according to regulations established by regulatory bodies.
  • Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately for independent MRI imaging per established protocols. Prepares for and assists physician while performing procedures. Prepares contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice.
  • Implements MRI safety and patient safety standards and provides technical expertise for development of protocols. Implements and standardizes imaging protocols in coordination with radiation physics and division directors. Responsible for maintaining safe MRI operation through adherence to established policies and procedures. Responsible for assessing risk of implanted devices and other conditions, collaborating with the MR Safety Expert and MR Medical Director to ensure safe procedures and accurate billing.
  • Assures completion of all required documentation for quality control and equipment maintenance, procedures, e.g. regulatory, billing, protocol and image distribution. Maintains ACR certification and registries (if applicable). Implements and educates staff on all imaging institute policies, procedures, guidelines, and quality initiatives for MRI modality.
  • Performs duties as assigned or required
