About The Position

Nemours is seeking a MRI Technologist (Casual/PRN), Weekends, to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Orlando, Florida. Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children's Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 130-bed pediatric hospital also features the area's only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. In keeping with our goal of bringing Nemours care into the communities we serve, we also provide specialty outpatient care in several clinics located throughout.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree required.
  • Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year experience required.
  • MRI certification required upon hire: ARRT or ARMRIT.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required upon hire and must maintain.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified MRI Safety Officer, MRSO preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing Magnetic Resonance imaging studies while providing a quality health care service that includes total patient care in a comfortable, friendly environment.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential due to required continuous interaction with public and professional/medical personnel.
  • Report to the Radiology Manager or Radiology Supervisor.
  • Participate in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve services, make recommendations and implement actions as appropriate.
  • Maintain working knowledge and operation of MRIs and scanning workstation.
  • Perform patient examinations as protocoled by designated radiologist.
  • Provide accurate room preparation and instructions to patient/family according to the procedure.
  • Physically prepare patient for examination, explain the imaging procedure and answer pertinent procedural questions.
  • Screen patients for contraindications that may be hazardous to their health or to the safety of others.
  • Assist radiologists by evaluating patients and obtaining written screening for administration of contrast media.
  • Start IV's and inject contrast material for imaging studies.
  • Observe patients for allergic reactions after administration of contrast.
  • Maintain work habits consistent with hospital and department policies.
  • Operate hospital computer systems for patient data entry and retrieval/order entry and completion of study.
  • Determine proper scanning parameters and sequences according to protocols set by the radiologist.
  • Ensure proper function of equipment by proper usage and maintenance.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill necessary to provide care with respect to the appropriate specific chronological age, developmental age or social maturity of the patient.
  • Aid in the training of new personnel, students and physicians.
  • Regular attendance required.
