About The Position

The MRI Tech 2 arranges patients for Magnetic resonance examinations and produces MRI images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. The MRI technologist monitors and ensures the safety of patients and all personnel prior to entering the magnetic area. They perform patient screening by using established protocols for any ferrous materials and medical device history, as well as for the safe administration of contrast media. Utilizing departmental policy, the MRI Tech 2 performs safe operation of equipment and all functions of the job. They provide complete pre and post education to patients and their families, work under minimal supervision, and may perform additional job duties.

Requirements

• 1 year experience in MRI technology.
• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program.
• Current State License and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification or Registry Eligible and certification in MRI.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Arrange patients for Magnetic resonance examinations.
• Produce MRI images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems.
• Monitor and ensure safety of patient and personnel prior to entering magnetic area.
• Perform patient screening using established protocols for ferrous materials and medical device history.
• Administer contrast media safely according to protocols.
• Utilize departmental policy for safe operation of equipment.
• Provide pre and post education to patients and families.
• Work under minimal supervision and perform additional job duties as needed.
• Coordinate MRI schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
• Correct and report accidents, incidents, and safety hazards.
• Use PPE when appropriate and adhere to infection control practices.
• Report equipment problems to chief technologist and place service calls as needed.
• Complete Exam Data Entry fields on all exams and document pertinent information.
