About The Position

The MRI Tech 2 arranges patients for Magnetic resonance examinations and produces MRI images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. The MRI technologist monitors and ensures the safety of patients and all personnel prior to entering the magnetic area. They perform patient screening using established protocols for any ferrous materials and medical device history, as well as for the safe administration of contrast media. The technologist utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and all functions of the job. They provide complete pre and post education to patients and their families, working under minimal supervision and may perform additional job duties.

Requirements

  • 1 year experience
  • Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technologist Program
  • Current State License
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT (R) or Registry Eligible and certification in MRI
  • BLS

Responsibilities

  • Exhibits working knowledge of all MRI equipment and procedures.
  • Refers to physician's orders/chart for any special instructions that may be indicated.
  • Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history.
  • Explains procedure completely to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety.
  • Performs all procedures in an efficient and timely manner without compromising quality or the mission statement.
  • Coordinates MRI schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
  • Corrects and reports accidents, incidents and safety hazards.
  • Uses PPE (personal protective equipment) when appropriate.
  • Is aware of potential chemical hazards and how to access MSDS information.
  • Uses good body mechanics when moving patients.
  • Adheres to infection control practices.
  • Reports all equipment problems to chief technologist and places service call through call center.
  • Complete Exam Data Entry fields on all exams.
  • Documents all pertinent information, i.e., patient history, tech initials.
  • Is available to work a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24-hour coverage of the MRI Department.
  • Assist in other areas of the department as workload permits.
  • Keeps areas well stocked at all times.
  • Consistently performs 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values, Service, and Quality.
