About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a full-time MRI Technologist to work in an inpatient setting. The role involves setting up and utilizing all MRI equipment, evaluating image quality, and ensuring safe access into the magnet room. The technologist will assist in training new staff and manage patient data through filming and archiving. The position requires adherence to safety policies and the production of high-quality images for interpretation. The work schedule is Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 7 AM to 7:30 PM.

Requirements

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Current NYS licensure as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) upon hire.
• ARRT certification with CE credits upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Set up and utilize all MRI equipment including imaging coils and patient monitoring systems.
• Evaluate image quality by troubleshooting scanner or coil problems and scan parameters.
• Identify and compensate for imaging artifacts.
• Review MRI registration and screening forms to confirm safe access into the magnet room.
• Assist in training new MRI technologists and students.
• Perform filming, archiving, and PACS network data management for each patient scanned.
• Retrieve old MRI data for restoration and filming or networking.
• Receive training and supervision from senior technologists.
• Scan patients safely and efficiently, completing all associated paperwork and computer work.
• Discharge patients from the MRI department with appropriate post-MRI instructions.
• Educate patients and families regarding procedures.
• Prepare patients for MRI procedures by positioning and adjusting equipment.
• Produce high-quality images and prepare them for timely interpretation.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to MRI safety policies.
• Perform equipment quality control measurements and troubleshoot issues.
• May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities.
