About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY Under minimal supervision, performs complex diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures, as requested by a licensed physician. Produces high quality diagnostic images while providing excellent patient care. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of MRI
• MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 6 months in Magnetic Resonance Imaging with supervised clinical experience
• Possesses working knowledge of cross section anatomy and MR pathology
• REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology or (ARMRIT) registry eligible according to ACR guidelines. Must be registered as a MR Technologist within one year post graduation of accredited school. If Registered with ARRT in ionizing radiation, must possess current Texas Medical Board (TMB) license.
• REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire

Nice To Haves

• PREFERRED EDUCATION: Associate Degree in Allied Health or Bachelors Degree and certification in another clinical imaging field
• PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 2-5 years in MRI
• PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: ARRT in MRI

Responsibilities

• Assures room is ready: equipment is operable; supplies, etc. are in place before patient enters room
• Practices universal medical precautions
• Keeps patient schedule and accommodates emergency and add-on patients when requested
• Greets patients with courtesy and respect; introduces self; describes procedures, puts patients at ease
• Checks patient histories – has patient sign screening forms
• Understands anatomy so as to direct the beam (or appropriate imaging source) in the most effective manner
• Monitors patient’s well being during scan; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action
