About The Position

PRN MRI Technologist – Mandarin (Old St. Augustine Rd), Jacksonville FL Precision Imaging Centers is now hiring a PRN MRI Tech to cover every Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM, and various shifts as needed. We recently opened our fifth imaging center on Jacksonville’s Southside and now offer Open MRI services at multiple Southside locations, including Gate Parkway. Position Overview The MRI Technologist plays a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality diagnostic imaging. This position requires strong communication, patient care, and collaboration skills to ensure a positive experience for every patient. MRI Technologists are responsible for maintaining safety in the MR environment and applying their knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and MRI principles to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injury. Successful candidates are patient advocates with strong technical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Florida Radiologic Technologist License
  • ARRT Certification in Radiography (R)
  • ARRT Certification in Magnetic Resonance (MR)
  • BLS Certification
  • Venipuncture experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of MRI experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Adaptability to new technologies and imaging techniques
  • Strong knowledge of MRI procedures and protocols
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional, tactful demeanor with strong patient interaction skills
  • Ability to manage stressful situations effectively
  • Must be able to cover Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Additional weekday shifts may be available based on department needs

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors within the MRI environment
  • Conduct MRI safety screenings verbally and via MRI screening forms
  • Explain procedures clearly to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperation
  • Prepare imaging areas and select appropriate coils based on protocol and patient needs
  • Position patients properly and utilize immobilization devices for optimal imaging
  • Set technical parameters and operate MRI scanners and related equipment
  • Monitor image quality during scans and evaluate images for diagnostic accuracy
  • Administer contrast media as required
  • Stay current with MRI technology, procedures, and best practices
  • Participate in continuing education to meet state and national requirements
  • Collaborate with the Lead Technologist to support efficient patient flow
  • Assist with training and oversight of MRI students as needed
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of MRI supplies
  • Perform daily visual inspections and weekly ACR QA procedures, reporting issues promptly
