Obtains the highest-quality MR imaging possible, assuring the anatomical area of interest is imaged as completely as possible. Demonstrates skill and proficiencies in the use of sensitive MRI equipment to obtain accurate and meaningful results, reviews referring physician orders and any additional medical history and prior imaging, obtains patient's current indications/symptoms, and shows the correlation of the clinical history with the anatomy covered on the MRI examination. Demonstrates skills and proficiencies in the use of RIS, HIS (if applicable), PACS, and peripheral software if applicable (CAD and other post-processing software). Screens all personnel entering Zones 3 and 4 for any safety issues and contraindications of being in a strong magnetic field. Verifies patient identification by asking patients, or family members for complete names, dates of birth, reasons for examination/procedure, and area to be examined—Verifies information on the patient's identification bracelet if from a hospital. Ensures equipment calibration by performing quality control tests according to established procedures and frequency schedule. Continuously practices sterilization and isolation techniques that result in the prevention of infection or cross-contamination. Clearly communicates pertinent information regarding procedures/exams and wait times to patients using AIDET principals. Maintains a high quality of patient care and communicates positively and timely with co-workers, physicians, patients, and visitors. Generates CDs when needed. Maintains equipment and orders supplies when needed. Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.
