About The Position

The MRI Tech 3 is accountable for performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures, which produce high quality diagnostic films and performs MRSO duties. Works on a level not requiring constant supervision. Performs a variety of MR core protocols, MRI advanced level recons, Neuro and Cardiovascular MRA’s, independent workstation proficiency, IV skills, Q.A. maintenance. These procedures require independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative when performing exam for diagnostic purposes. Assists manager with the implementation of policy and procedures, training of new team members, interdepartmental committee involvement and is a preceptor with basic leaderships skills that demonstrates an ability to delegate when needed. Is responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital. In the event the facility is ACR Accredited in MRI, this position will be responsible in obtaining all required information for submission.

Requirements

  • Technical Program Allied Health
  • License/Registration - Issued by Florida or Compact State
  • General Radiographer, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Radiation Therapy Technologist
  • ARRT-Radiographer or
  • NMTCB- Nuclear Medicine or
  • ARDMS Registered or
  • American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (AMRIT) certified and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Three (3) years progressive responsibility in an MRI diagnostic imaging department

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of MRI scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed safety procedures
  • Adheres to MRI protocols to maintain high quality standards
  • As required during a procedure, assists positioning patients in required anatomical position for display of body for MRI scans
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning properly by conducting daily Quality Assurance (QA) and American College of Radiology (ACR) QA procedures.
  • Maintain and manage patient data by archiving and restoring exams, ensuring patient records are accessible for future reference.
  • Safely inject contrast media into patients as needed for diagnostic procedures and perform IV starts in preparation for exams.
  • Select the appropriate MRI coil based on the patient's exam requirements and ensure the patient is positioned correctly for optimal imaging.
  • Efficiently use MRI scanners, Med-Pumps, and power injectors, ensuring accurate and timely imaging during the procedure.
  • Select the correct imaging protocol based on the patient's specific needs and ensure all procedures comply with established guidelines.
  • Keep patients adequately covered and reassured, ensuring comfort and dignity throughout the procedure while maintaining a professional, calming presence.
  • Confirm that all medical devices, such as stents, prosthetics, or clips, are MRI-compatible, ensuring patient safety during the exam.
  • Oversee patient flow, ensuring that procedures are completed efficiently, minimizing delay time, and maximizing productivity.
  • Send images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and utilize the hospital's computer system for patient management, ensuring data integrity and accessibility
