About The Position

Here at Fairview, we are now seeking an MRI Specialty Program Technologist to join our imaging team at our University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank location in Minneapolis, MN! This is a 1.0 FTE (80 hours per 2 weeks) position that will work Monday through Friday from 8AM - 4PM with weekends as needed. The MRI Specialty Program Technologist specializes in performing specialty magnetic resonance imaging on pediatric and adult patients, ensuring safety, comfort, and high-quality diagnostic images. They prepare patients, administer contrast, and work directly with Specialty Providers (Cardiologists, Radiologists, and other specialty providers), and nursing to provide highly advanced scanning for a wide range of disease conditions. Additionally, this role will actively partner with physicians and care teams to develop industry leading protocols, care innovation, advanced research studies, and provide expertise in operational program development.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program
  • 4 years MRI technologist experience
  • 1 year MRI specialty program experience (ex. pediatrics, cardiology, neurology etc.)
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire
  • ARRT registration in Magnetic Resonance Imaging or equivalent (ex. ARMRIT) Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Radiologic technologist program
  • 6 years MRI technologist experience
  • 3 years MRI specialty program experience (ex. pediatrics, cardiology, neurology etc.)
  • ARRT registration for multiple specialties (ex. NMTCB, RDMS etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to ACR MRI safety standards and protocols, maintaining a high level of patient comfort and safety while working collaboratively with sedation and anesthesia services.
  • Perform exams under the direction of MD Specialists (Radiologist, Cardiologist etc.)
  • Participates in quality assurance and documentation or audit processes
  • Communicate and educate patients and families regarding pertinent information during all aspects of the procedure
  • Achieve quality diagnostic images through correct patient positioning and use of technical factors according to protocol Ensures Patient Data Integrity
  • Accurately completes computer functions, edits, scheduling, billing, status changes and image transfers in a timely manner
  • Coordinates and plans with providers, nursing and technologists
  • Actively support program growth through Precepts / Mentors of technologists
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
