About The Position

The incumbent serves as a Senior MR technologist performing advanced MR research studies in the UCSF Human Imaging Research Core, solving procedural and technical problems as they arise, and assisting the researchers in analyzing and archiving MR image data. The incumbent will be the Senior MR technologist performing imaging studies in the research environment. This includes injections, safe handling and proper disposal of contrast agents possibly including radiopharmaceuticals. The position is responsible for helping to expand successful research programs at the China Basin imaging center and at Byers Hall. This includes outreach to new investigators, planning new studies, and interaction with the clinic scheduling to increase usage of the MR. This requires flexibility and a collaborative work approach. The Department of Radiology is a 24-hour, seven day a week operation providing imaging services for adult and pediatric inpatients and outpatients. The MR Senior Radiologic Technologist provides technical knowledge and/or coordinates the delivery of MRI services. Under the direction of a qualified physician, this position will operate a variety of equipment including high field strength magnets and support systems with MRI safety as a priority. The MR Senior Radiologic Technologist will be responsible for patient coordination, acquisition, processing, and archiving of all patient data. This position is responsible for training new staff as well as existing staff on new technologies. The incumbent will maintain and operate equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications, reporting all problems appropriately. Incumbent may be required to oversee provision of MRI services and staffing coverage in absence of the MR Supervisor. The MR Senior Radiologic Technologist is an ARRT licensed technologist who maintains an ARRT sponsored MRI certification and has more than 3 years of MRI experience. The MR Senior Radiologic Technologist will comply and adhere to department protocols, UCSF policies and procedures, Department of Radiology policies and procedures and other applicable work rules and regulations. Incumbent works independently and under general supervision. The technologist must act with initiative and responsibility to achieve maximum radiographic quality. All duties and responsibilities will be performed in a calm manner even in stressful situations. Incumbent will interact with Radiologist, Clinicians, and peers in a cooperative, harmonious manner for maximum effectiveness. Incumbent must be able to perform all job functions deemed by Department of Radiology. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $73.07 - $90.87 (Hourly Rate). Requirements

  • Graduate of a formal radiology technology training program in an AMA approved school
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with high field magnetic resonance system
  • Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts as well as coverage for weekends and holidays
  • Flexibility to rotate to other sites when necessary
  • Be able to perform 3 out of the 6 specialty scans Cardiac Imaging Fetal Imaging Whole body Pediatric scans Special procedures ( HIFU/DBS etc.) Pediatric/Adult Anesthesia Breast Imaging
  • Recent work experience in an acute care setting
  • CRT Licensure
  • MRSO
  • ARRT approved MRI Certification
  • BLS (CPR) Certification
  • Venipuncture Certification
