About The Position

The MRI Physicist will support both the clinical and research functions of Nemours Radiology in Orlando with collaboration with our Delaware Radiology department. In addition to pursuing independent research projects, the candidate will contribute to clinical services by optimizing MRI-based clinical and research imaging protocols, develop an ongoing process for quality assurance, ensure regulatory compliance and ACR accreditation, assist in design and execution of MRI data collection and analysis, conduct equipment acceptance testing, evaluate new technologies and upgrades, and provide MR physics education for students, residents and fellows. The MRI physicist will also be expected to participate in the writing and preparation of grant applications for external funding for research.

Requirements

  • PhD in Physics/Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering or related field required

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent research and provide support to various research projects of interest to the Department of Radiology and the Neurotheranostics group, as well as non-radiology MRI research
  • Advance applications of new imaging methods on high-field MRI scanners in various pediatric disorders
  • Set up, apply and optimize novel MRI sequences in the study of pediatric disorders as well as scanner protocol implementation, pulse sequence compatibility, and consulting for multi-site projects
  • Ensure that the accreditation and clinical trial performance criteria are met
  • As a part of MRI safety committee, develop policies and procedures, address safety issues, and review the MRI safety program as well as design and oversee quality assurance programs
  • Implement and use novel sophisticated image processing and image analysis programs, preferably in the field of neuroimaging
  • Writing of grant proposals and publishing of scientific results in journals
  • Data analysis
  • Collaborate with other pediatric MR scientists across the country/world and with industry partners on MR research initiative
