About The Position

The MRI Imaging Assistant supports MRI operations through patient assistance, MRI safety screening, room and equipment preparation, and non-interpretive imaging tasks under the direction of an MRI Technologist. This role assists with workflow efficiency but does not perform image acquisition or independently operate MRI equipment. The MRI Imaging Assistant prioritizes patient safety, regulatory compliance, and a positive patient experience.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior healthcare or patient-care support experience preferred.

  • Experience in orthopedics, outpatient imaging, or medical assisting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule MRI patients and manage the daily MRI schedule to support efficient patient flow, timely exams, and optimal utilization of MRI resources.
  • Perform MRI safety screening for patients, personnel, and visitors to identify contraindications or potential risks; escalate concerns promptly to the MRI Technologist or provider.
  • Coordinate with provider teams regarding MRI orders, patient preparation requirements, scheduling needs, and follow-up communication to ensure seamless patient care and efficient workflow.
  • Prepare and assist patients for MRI examinations, including obtaining vital signs, assisting with transfers, and explaining procedures to promote comfort and cooperation.
  • Support MRI safety protocols, including controlled access to Zone III and adherence to established MRI Safety Zones.
  • Assist with patient positioning and anatomical landmarking under technologist supervision without initiating scans.
  • Assist in preparing MRI rooms between exams, including linen replacement, stocking supplies, and ensuring equipment readiness.
  • Document required patient information accurately in the EHR and support appropriate charge documentation as directed.
  • Ensure safety standards and confidentiality are upheld during all procedures.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with providers and staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of MRI equipment, imaging room and corresponding workstation.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
  • Perform additional imaging-related duties as assigned.
