About The Position

The MRI Diagnostic Radiological Technologist provides high-quality diagnostic imaging services to veteran patients. The role involves approximately 90% direct patient care and 10% administrative duties, ensuring all procedures meet state-of-the-art civilian medical standards.

Requirements

• Certification: Must hold a current, full, and unrestricted certification as a Registered Technologist in Magnetic Resonance Imaging—R.T.(MR)(ARRT)—through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• Experience: At least one (1) year of experience as a Diagnostic Radiological Technologist is required.
• Life Support: Must maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Technical Proficiency: Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.
• Compliance: Must successfully complete VA credentialing (VetPro) and background security investigations (fingerprints and NACI).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and position patients for MRI scans while ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Explain procedures to patients and address concerns.
• Operate and calibrate MRI equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols regarding magnetic fields and metallic implants.
• Review image quality and collaborate with radiologists for further evaluation.
• Maintain detailed and confidential patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Work closely with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare staff to discuss results.
• Document all procedures, complications, and outcomes for quality assurance.
• Follow established infection control and patient safety standards, reporting any incidents via the VA Patient Safety Reporting System.
