The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the Material Recovery Facility (MRF), ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with environmental standards. This role involves managing day-to-day operations, leading personnel, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the facility.

  • Ensure successful operation of transfer stations, maintaining safety and efficiency.
  • Monitor site operations, safety, and personnel management.
  • Conduct interviews, hire, and train employees.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work while appraising performance.
  • Address employee complaints and resolve problems effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with company, county, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with enforcement agencies such as OSHA and CAL EPA.
  • Train and develop personnel for operational excellence.
  • Maintain and repair equipment in a timely manner.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound tonnage for compliance.
  • Guide, coach, supervise, and motivate employees.
  • Communicate effectively with subordinates, peers, and superiors.
  • Implement change management techniques to facilitate operational changes.
  • Backfill managers on the team as needed.
  • Select the best materials for processing and develop operational plans.
  • Standardize operations processes and implement policies in collaboration with internal leaders.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of management experience.
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other related regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and develop subordinates.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, HMI, and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5 years' experience in a waste-recycling or industrial/manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Class A/B License preferred.
  • Solid Waste Association of North America certification preferred.
  • Bilingual skills highly preferred.
