We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Instructor to join CAE and lead a team of maintenance instructors for the MQ-9B SkyGuardian Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) program. This program is the first of its kind delivered to the RCAF and offers a unique opportunity for you to bring your expertise and dedication to work on this groundbreaking aviation system. The successful MQ-9B RPAS Chief Maintenance Instructor will manage and coordinate all aspects of the RPAS Maintainer training support, including classroom instruction, support to Steady-State RPAS courseware refinement, Maintenance Trainer (MT) and Weapons Load Trainer (WLT) custodianship, and management of all other RPAS Maintenance Instructors at the Air Maintenance Detachment East, (AMDet(E)), in Greenwood, Nova Scotia.

Requirements

  • Transport Canada approved Aviation Technician - Aircraft Maintenance or Avionics Maintenance Diploma or Canadian Forces Aviation (AVN) Technician or Avionics (AVS) Technician Qualification.
  • Possession of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering License with an M1, M2 or E rating or be a Canadian Forces Journeyman Aviation (AVN) Technician or Avionics (AVS) Technician.
  • Qualified Maintenance Instructor or Canadian Armed Forces Instructor Course, or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of aircraft maintenance instructional experience (preferably within the RCAF).
  • At least 5 years of first- and second-line aircraft maintenance related experience.
  • Experience with writing and amending multi-media instructional courseware.
  • Familiar with quality standards, training plans, and training media used to ensure teaching points are met per Training Standards.
  • Proven experience as a team player.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or with a valid Work Permit.
  • Capable of obtaining and maintaining both Controlled Goods Clearance and a NATO secret security clearance.
  • Physically able to perform all instructional tasks in a live and synthetic setting.

Nice To Haves

  • In depth knowledge of CF Maintenance Activity Authorizations and Standards C-05-005P03/AM-00.
  • UAV experience is an asset.
  • Turboprop maintenance experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, recruit, develop, and overall management of a team of RPAS Maintenance Instructors (RPAS Maintainer and AWS) that must deliver against the standards and requirements of the MQ-9B RPAS training syllabus.
  • Deliver high-quality, hands-on and classroom instruction on the MQ-9B SkyGuardian RPAS to Royal Canadian Airforce (RCAF) personnel consistent with training objectives and teaching points in the approved training plan(s), per applicable training standards.
  • Evaluate trainee performance through practical and theoretical assessments, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement.
  • Assist in the creation, review, and continuous improvement of instructional content, lesson plans, and technical documentation.
  • Reporting student progress, issues, and deficiencies relative to the course delivery.
  • Create work schedules, plan, and coordinate daily activities and work assignments along with future projects to ensure that an adequate roster is always available to cover the contracted Training Availability Windows.
  • Provide Training SME feedback and input into CAE’s Training Device development.
  • Act as primary RPAS Maintainer SME whilst supporting Training-related IPTs and Working Groups.
  • Perform occasional travel in support of the project.
  • Other duties as assigned.
