About The Position

The Residential Supervisor assists in supervising residential and social/recreational programming to ensure students gain the knowledge, independent living skills, and interpersonal competencies needed to maximize their potential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or High School diploma with 2 years of experience in residential setting or supervisory level may be equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team
  • Competency in Microsoft Office software programs
  • Willingness to work a varied schedule
  • Valid MA Driver’s License with a driving record in good standing
  • Experience and skill in developing, implementing and/or planning activities for residential students
  • A minimum of conversational fluency in American Sign Language required
  • ASL Classes may be required based on ASL fluency
  • Must be physically able to perform all duties of the job including frequent lifting, bending, reaching above shoulder level, climbing stairs, pulling, typing, prolonged standing or sitting.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of issues and priorities important to students’ needs in a residential program preferred
  • native, or near-native ASL fluency preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work with students as the leader of a team providing support, guidance, direction and supervision to residential students.
  • Develop residential services for students designed to develop independent living skills and interpersonal skills, and build social competence.
  • Oversee the implementation of the independent living skills curriculum in the residential programs, collaborating with CTE, High School and Walden School educational programs.
  • Ensure that all required reports and documents are completed as scheduled, including logs, incident reports and service plans.
  • Work collaboratively with MPS colleagues to facilitate students’ educational, social, recreational and life skills activities within existing programs.
  • Work closely with the health services department to ensure all medical needs are met. May be delegated and trained to conduct medication administration or certain medical procedures for students.
  • Ensure the implementation of residential policies and procedures. With the Director of MPS, hire residential counselors.
  • Supervise and conduct performance reviews for residential counselors. With the Director of MPS, develop and monitor an annual residential budget.
  • Some lifting may be required when working with young students or students with special needs, however, TLC embraces and celebrates a spirit of inclusion and diversity, and reasonable accommodations and modifications will be made whenever possible. The diversity of our student population may require that some assignments have a heavier physical responsibility due to safety.
  • May be delegated and trained to conduct medication administration or certain medical procedure responsibilities for students.
  • May be required to drive students or clients and additional driving responsibilities as needed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Department Supervisor and/or Program Leader.
