About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking Nondestructive Evaluation Engineers to join our team in Oklahoma City, OK. We are looking for a range of experience, specifically Lead level NDE Engineers. The Midwest Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) and Fleet Support team is part of the BDS Engineering department, supporting space, commercial, and defense air vehicle programs such as the 787, 777X, F-15, F-18, and many others. Our team is responsible for NDE Engineering supporting pre-production, current production, and post-production efforts, as well as conducting NDE research and development for both internal and external customers. This position is expected to be 100% onsite, and the selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Requirements

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 9+ years of experience in engineering.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time minimum.

Nice To Haves

  • 9+ years of hands-on experience in NDE/NDT engineering in a regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, defense, energy).
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
  • Experience with nondestructive evaluation processes (e.g., ultrasonic testing, radiography, eddy current testing, and penetrant inspection).
  • Experience working in multi-discipline teams.
  • Strong understanding of materials behavior, stress analysis, and fracture mechanics.
  • Experience with project management tools.
  • Excellent time management skills to manage several simultaneous projects effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Apply nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods/approaches to develop new and novel methods/approaches to address affordability and supportability objectives.
  • Develop new sensor technology and testing systems for nondestructive evaluation (NDE) applied to manufacturing and support areas.
  • Define requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture, and maintenance of products.
  • Lead development of specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes.
  • Maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for potential application to address business needs.
  • Lead development, validation, and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes to meet requirements.
  • Manage test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements.
  • Incorporate environmental health and safety, LEAN, and Quality principles into materials and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Support audits, root cause analyses, and failure investigations as a subject matter expert.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
