About The Position

The Movement Guide will work in conjunction with all other wellness disciplines including but not limited to movement, nutrition, mindset, spa, yoga, meditation, and other wellness team members in a luxury retreat setting, while leveraging evidenced-based content and technology deliver the best practices in exercise sciences. At Sensei, we balance purpose with play. Guests enjoy health coaching, 1:1 nutrition, movement, meditation and mindset sessions, body treatments, insight sessions, workshops, and a variety of outdoor activities – all designed to expand awareness and connection. The Sensei Guide works in multidisciplinary collaboration and is responsible for managing and coordinating activities of each guests’ wellness journey. This position is an integral leader of the guest experience, leveraging data, self-awareness, self-efficacy, and safety to deliver guided sessions. Combining spaces and environments to imbue feelings of safety and ease; domain expertise to interpret objective data and craft a personalized wellness plan; and health coaching to communicate this information in an empowering, affirming manner. Sensei has designed the guide program to manage the guest experience by supporting our guest in achieving greater wellbeing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Athletic Training, or Physical Therapy and Professional Certification from ACSM, NSCA, NASM and seven years of experience or Master’s degree in related field and three years of applied experience
  • Proficiency in multiple movement modalities
  • Experience with various populations and ability levels
  • Familiarity with lab assessments such as VO2 max, FMS, gait analysis, and force plates
  • Accredited certification in health or wellness coaching
  • Passion for personal and professional development
  • Proficient in Apple iOS, Office 365, and/or technology systems
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to create and deliver educational content
  • Demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and service orientation
  • Friendly demeanor, energetic, calm, and empathetic
  • Ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations
  • Organized and able to prioritize
  • Certified practitioner in fitness, yoga, or meditation from respected credentialing body

Responsibilities

  • Direct and monitor the end-to-end guest experience, from initial consultation and assessment to their last send off session for life after Sensei
  • Proactively connect with guests throughout their stay to provide touch points on their wellness journey
  • Conduct Guide specific services, including but not limited to, My Intention, My Wellbeing, My Plan, Pre-Arrival and Post-Stay calls
  • Support property wellness learning & development for hotel and wellness team members to ensure that all are versed in the wellness philosophy of Sensei and update on new wellness offerings
  • Lead property wellness program and engage with the corporate wellness program as needed
  • Support all areas of movement and take ownership over guide and movement spaces, equipment and programming.
  • Support corporate and property program development, training, and launches
  • Assist with research & program development to support guest education
  • Onboard and mentor new Sensei guide and Movement Practitioner team members
  • Use principles of behavior change, active listening, open ended questioning, and health coaching to support guests in pursuing their personal growth
  • Team subject matter expert in their field of study.
  • Offer the highest caliber coaching and guidance to guests in private, semi-private and group sessions, including experience or class preparation and breakdown
  • Conduct experience sessions using the current technology systems offered, which may include, but is not limited to (experience preferred; hands on training provided): Hand Dynameter, Force Plate Assessments, VO2 Metabolic Testing, Movement Screening, Whoop, SECA, Thermography, and others as assigned.
  • Conduct all path specific sessions including but not limited to; insight sessions, workshops, biomarker sessions, post stay sessions, 1:1s, semi-private and group experiences
  • Conduct all path specific classes available on the property weekly activity calendar
  • Create and own educational content to further educate and engage guests, which may include videos, audio recordings, handouts, presentations, or other as assigned
  • Design specialized sessions for a range of guests
  • Continuously stay up to date on scientific research and trends and provide memo of research findings as requested
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, utilizing guest feedback, and suggest updates to programming based on that feedback
  • Have an evidence-led approach to all experiences
  • Remain proficient in all computer software systems and notetaking required by your position
  • Record guest progress as applicable and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain working spaces and general care and cleanliness of guide and wellness spaces and equipment including a regular cadence of maintenance duties
  • Maintain complete confidentiality in all guest/program matters in accordance with company policies
  • Maintain all Policy & Procedures and follow Resource Document processes for all classes and private sessions
  • Participate in bi-monthly Path meetings
  • Collaborate with teammates & coworkers to ensure a seamless guest experience and enhance service delivery
  • Ensure confidentiality, ethics, and client trust is always protected
  • Act as a Sensei ambassador for team, guests, partners, events (on & off property) and media
  • Engage in media and promotional opportunities such as interviews, social media, video demonstrations and special events. Allow use of likeness in promotional materials.
  • Ensures all guest requests are communicated and completed
  • Ability to move, bend, and stretch as job requires
  • Ability to monitor and observe client performance indoors and outside in daylight and lowlight evening conditions
  • Must be able flexible hours and work weekends, and holidays
