About The Position

The Department of Neurology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking to recruit a dynamic Assistant Professor with strong clinical values and unique research skills for our department. This position presents an enormous opportunity to expand our Movement Disorders clinical care, research, and education within the department and School of Medicine. We are seeking individuals who are collaborative, communicative, caring, detail-oriented, organized, proactive, able to think critically, focused on quality, dedicated to personal growth, and highly motivated. This position will be faculty of the Movement Disorders section in the University of Colorado, Department of Neurology. The position’s time will be split between general movement disorders and the Functional Neurological Disorders (FND) Program (50/50). In each role, the individual will conduct direct patient care and have the opportunity to lead or participate in research and educational initiatives. Requirements

  • Applicants must be Board Certified or eligible to be board certified before start date
  • Completed fellowship training in Movement Disorders
  • A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Duties include responsibilities at the faculty-level for the out-patient services with supervision of residents and medical students, supervision of patient procedures, and teaching of the house-staff as well as students.
  • Teaching activities including leading teaching conferences and training medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Administrative responsibilities will include data entry into hospital systems, development of critical pathways, committee work, and projects aimed at improving the specialty and department mission. It is assumed the bulk of this non-clinical time will be spent working toward the production of scholarship activities. Attendance at the meetings and educational events of the department and specialty programs is expected. Other duties may be assigned as need arises.
  • Primary responsibilities will include direct clinical care of individuals with FND.
  • Work collaboratively with FND Program Director, Business Manager, and multidisciplinary team.
  • Act as liaison between FND Program and Movement Disorders section to ensure alignment of clinical, research and educational goals. This includes but is not limited to communicating patient, faculty, and staff needs to ensure high quality and efficient care for FND patients.
  • Participate in peer review, in-service training, and quality improvement processes to understand patient care protocols and care delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with the medical director in development, implementation of program changes, including any attendant quality improvement programs such as programs to assess the completeness and accuracy of neurological workup.
  • Follow established SOM Department of Neurology and UCHealth policies, procedures, and objectives for continuous quality improvement objectives
  • Participate in ongoing FND Program research initiatives in collaboration with team members to support understanding best patient outcomes, positioning the clinic for funding potential and fostering academic success and institutional recognition
  • May represent the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promoting existing and new programs and/or policies
  • Other duties may be assigned as need arises.
