About The Position

Geisinger Neuroscience Institute is seeking a movement disorders neurologist to join the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center team in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. This position is based in Wilkes-Barre but supported by a system wide care team consisting of another fellowship-trained movement disorders neurologist, two functional neurosurgeons, and a dedicated and experienced nurse navigator. This will be an out-patient position with no hospital coverage or nighttime call required. The ideal candidate will be a graduate from a movement disorders fellowship program with strong clinical skills, interest in teaching the next generation of providers, and experience with botulinum toxin for dystonia and managing deep brain stimulation. Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV) is northeast Pennsylvania’s premier tertiary care center with three hundred beds and home to the region’s only comprehensive stroke center, a level II trauma center, the Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital, the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center, and the Tambur Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The neurology clinic is located in a brand-new free-standing medical office building on the GWV campus with local support including neurosurgery, clinical neurophysiology, behavioral neurology, physical therapy, and rehabilitation. There is also a pharmacy, lab, and radiology on-site. Medical students from Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine rotate through the service, and there is a new neurology residency program based at GWV, with ample opportunities for teaching. Faculty appointments and more formal roles in education are available for qualified candidates. Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Licensed Medical Doctor in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Graduate from a movement disorders fellowship program.
  • Strong clinical skills.

  • Interest in teaching the next generation of providers.
  • Experience with botulinum toxin for dystonia.
  • Experience managing deep brain stimulation.

Responsibilities
