The GEMMs group is responsible for maintaining and breeding study cohorts of genetically engineered mouse models used in Biogen’s preclinical research programs. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to execute designated breeding strategies, collect tissue biopsies for genotyping, and coordinate delivery of study cohorts from the breeding core to the Research Units. The individual must be able to manage a variety of different breeding projects, be willing to adapt quickly to changing study needs, and be able to communicate well with scientific stakeholders within the disease area Research Units. In addition, the GEMMS group interacts closely with Biogen’s gene editing team to enable the generation of novel mouse models, and thus, the candidate will also be jointly responsible for defining the specific breeding requirements critical to the characterization of these models. This position offers the opportunity for the right individual to interact with multiple groups across Biogen’s R&D organization and to be part of cross-functional teams aimed at advancing research and therapeutic discovery for serious neurologic disorders.
