Requirements

  • One to two (1-2) years of prior experience on a drilling rig; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two (1 or 2) step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • English language fluency, verbal and written.
  • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check, credit check and drug/alcohol test.

Responsibilities

  • Check and maintain engines and monitor fluid and lubricant levels.
  • Work on rig floor in tandem with Floorman, Derrickman, and Driller; assemble and disassemble drill pipe using ST-80 and tongs while tripping and making connections; work in tandem with rig crew and casing crew while running casing.
  • Climb to and work on derrick board when making connections consistently wearing safety harness and following other working from heights safety procedures.
  • Operate boom line, air hoist, to lift and move heavy supplies, equipment, and pipe.
  • Move casing or drill pipe joints to and from pipe racks, catwalk, ramp and rig floor as required.
  • Repair drilling machinery, pumps, and derrick; dig drainage ditches, rack tools, and clean drilling floor around rig.
  • Perform routine and preventive rig servicing, repair, and maintenance, including scrubbing and painting, when operations do not require presence on rig floor.
