About The Position

The Motor Vehicle Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and participating in department motor vehicle transactions, ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations. This role includes direct supervision of clerks, training new personnel, and managing daily operations to provide efficient service to the public.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 10 to 15 years experience in vehicle title management or related field.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of motor vehicle laws and regulations, including ownership and title documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of motor vehicle laws, regulations, and procedures for all states.
  • Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
  • Skill in the provision of customer services.
  • Skill in the maintenance of files and records.
  • Skill in the supervision of personnel.
  • Skill in the use of office equipment such as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs the work of Motor Vehicle Clerks.
  • Provides information and guidance to clerks regarding motor vehicle laws, rules, and regulations for motor vehicle transactions in the State of Iowa.
  • Reviews the work of personnel for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provides input in hiring and promotions of employees.
  • Trains new personnel in office policies and procedures.
  • Creates and updates training materials and office procedures.
  • Processes the daily balance of motor vehicle funds in the absence of the Motor Vehicle Administrator.
  • Processes web renewals and electronic title transfers.
  • Maintains office calendar and daily job rotation to properly staff the office.
  • Manages Qmatic system and opens/closes resources based on staff availability.
  • Assists in employee performance reviews and plans.
  • Performs related duties.
