About The Position

This position is assigned to the Youth Center at Travis Air Force Base, CA, where the incumbent will operate passenger buses that carry 16 or more passengers. The role involves driving predetermined routes, performing operator maintenance, and ensuring passenger safety. A Class B Driver's License is required, and the position offers access to various base facilities and tuition assistance after one year of service.

Requirements

• Must possess a valid Class B driver's license with passenger endorsement.
• Experience operating buses capable of carrying 16 or more passengers.
• Familiarity with traffic and safety regulations, practices, and procedures pertaining to motor vehicle operation (buses).
• Ability to communicate orally and judge road/traffic conditions.
• Ability to read maps and interpret instructions related to motor vehicle operation (buses).
• Must provide an approved medical form completed by a U.S. licensed doctor of medicine (M.D.).
• Must provide a copy of driving record.

Responsibilities

• Drive one or more types of passenger buses which carry 16 or more passengers.
• Drive predetermined and/or scheduled routes or special runs.
• Read maps and judge road/traffic conditions to determine the shortest and safest route.
• Perform operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing vehicles, and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operation.
• Maintain records and documents actions on operator inspection checklists/forms and accident/incident reports.
